Mariam Khaziuri is a seasoned financial executive with extensive experience in financial management, operations, and organizational administration.
Her career in the non-profit sector started as a junior staff accountant at National Democratic Institute for International Affairs and has now spanned two decades supporting women’s right, reproductive rights, racial, social, economic and immigration justice, international education and religious tolerance initiatives as a Controller, Global Director of Finance and Administration and Chief Financial Officer positions in national and international organizations.
Throughout her career, Mariam has led transformative initiatives, such as transitioning organizations from third-party management to in-house operations, implementing various modern accounting, HR and operations software, and redesigning and streamlining global financial management processes. She has extensive experience working with international/cross cultural and diverse teams, consolidating financial statements, and managing compliance with donor specifications and government standards. Proficient in several technical systems and languages, Mariam is skilled at aligning financial goals with organizational strategy, managing risk, and enhancing operational efficiency. She particularly enjoys building highly efficient, cross-functional and cross-cultural finance and administrative teams to ensure financial transparency, sound governance and audit readiness.
Mariam holds a Master of Science in Finance from the George Washington University and Bachelors in Business Administration with dual concentration in Management and Finance from Midwestern State University. She enjoys her free time being a soccer mom to her two teenage daughters, traveling and reading non-fiction books.
