Jay Inslee

Governor Jay Inslee has provided bold leadership across local, state, and federal levels for over 30 years. As Washington State’s three-term governor, he has championed landmark clean energy legislation and built one of the country’s most ambitious state-level climate agendas. Under his leadership, Washington has consistently ranked among the best states for working families and business growth.

A fifth-generation Washingtonian, Inslee developed his environmental ethic in the Cascades and worked his way through college before becoming a lawyer and raising a family in Selah. His political journey began with a successful grassroots campaign for local education funding, leading to roles in the Washington State House and U.S. Congress, where he became a national policy leader.

As governor, he:

  • Passed the Climate Commitment Act and launched bold clean energy policies.
  • Advanced justice reforms, including a moratorium on the death penalty and clemency efforts.
  • Expanded K–12 and early education funding.
  • Transformed behavioral health care infrastructure.
