Nicholas Farrar

Nicholas brings more than 15 years of experience developing utility-scale renewable energy projects in the U.S. and internationally, with expertise spanning project implementation, energy policy, and project finance. He has particular depth in emerging markets and complex regulatory environments.

At GoodPower, Nicholas leads our data-driven siting and permitting campaigns that build community support for solar, wind, and storage projects, engaging landowners, local leaders, and permitting authorities to unlock stalled projects.

Earlier in his career, he spent a decade in Brazil with Statkraft, the Norwegian state-owned utility, developing solar and wind projects and leading permitting and stakeholder engagement in a demanding regulatory landscape. He later served as Project Director for the USAID Papua New Guinea Electrification Partnership and as Senior Energy Advisor on the USAID Pakistan Power Sector Improvement Activity, leading large-scale efforts to expand energy access, support the development of wholesale electricity markets, and strengthen Pakistan’s transmission and distribution system.

Nicholas holds a BS in Geography and a master’s in Natural Resource Economics, and is a certified Project Management Professional (PMP). Outside of work, he enjoys exploring the outdoors with his family.
